Virtually Bennett Office Support would like to take a moment to reflect and remember those that fought for our country, so that we may be free to live in peace and choose our own path in life. I remember my Poppa (Walter Edmund Lewis) who served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and my Nana (Evelyn Gertrude Lewis – nee Hunter) who was in the Royal Canadian Army along with her brother, my Great Uncle Bede (Gilbert Leslie Hunter). It is difficult to imagine the life of a soldier, or the sacrifices they made, unconditionally, for our country. One lesson I learned from all three of them is the importance of service. My Poppa used to say that being of service to others is one of life’s greatest pleasures. I am glad that all three of them survived the war and went on to live full, happy lives with their families. I gained many valuable lessons from all of them. They are remembered fondly throughout the year, and especially on Rememberance Day. A big salute to them and to all the people who fought or who continue to fight for our freedom. We might not have the opportunity to serve our country the way they did/do, but maybe if we can learn to be kinder to ourselves and proudly be of service to others, we can honour their memories.
